An Ordinary Day Turns Extraordinary
Henry had been homeless for so long that he could take for granted the monotony of his day. Every morning with the sun rising again presented the same struggle: where to find food, how to keep warm, and trying not to think about raising eyes that would judge him. He mostly spent his days on a bench in the park, a place through which he could observe life passing by and hold onto vague remnants of better times.
As the sun set over the park, casting a warm orange glow, a stranger stepped up to him. Henry had grown accustomed to bracing himself for rejection or pity. But instead of those, this stranger beamed a smile and handed him a white envelope. Before Henry could say a word, the stranger nodded and walked away, saying not a word.
Curious and yet a little nervous, Henry opened the envelope. He saw his heart beating fast as he found check for such a large sum and a letter handwritten, which they say comes from heaven. Overwhelmed, Henry’s face was scarred with tears as he clutched the envelope close to himself.
