Handing the Dog Over
At what felt like the end of time, the rescuer finally reached the dog, who is undoubtedly distressed but astonishingly calm before its would-be savior. He went as slow as to extend a gloved hand toward the dog so it could sniff and sense his intentions. Speaking in a soft voice, soothing, to calm the pet who had shaken from fear and chills, he tried to soothe the one who had finally understood a feeling of safety in its eyes there was a connection between them even in these few moments: the dog sensed, obviously, that it was finally safe.
After a few minutes, when the dog calmed down a little bit, the rescuer began to place an innocently designed harness around the dog in a way that made sure it was tied securely so that it didn’t put more stress on the animal. This must have taken a few minutes because he wasn’t shaking the dog nor putting much pressure on the ice. Those minutes were bonding them further as the dog also calmed down under the care of the rescuer.
Onlookers along the shore watched in suspense as the rescuer and dog appeared together at last, relief written all over it-a testament to the value of courage and skill. This so-called rescuer now consoling this little creature so extremely vulnerable was a reminder that quiet bravery and compassion is what motivate some people to assume risks in order to save others.
