Looking Back
One quiet evening, as they sat on the couch, the Marine found himself reflecting over the journey that had ended them up here. He thought of months in the foreign land, thousands of letters and calls that kept him going, and unwavering support of his wife. She had been for him an anchor, even when they were miles apart.
I didn’t realize how much I missed until I came back,” he confessed, his voice revealing his emotion. “You’ve been through so much and I wasn’t here. I wish I could have been.
His wife reached for his hand, her touch gentle and reassuring. “You were with me in every way that mattered. And now, you’re here. That’s what’s important.” Her words brought him a sense of peace, a reminder that their love had endured every challenge thrown their way.
At that point, the Marine realized this chapter of life was not about them, but about the strength of their love and the fact they can produce something beautiful together.
