What I Learned from the Refurbishment
The renovation journey taught the couple patience and resilience. They came to learn that every home has a story; sometimes, the most meaningful parts of that story aren’t found in view. The artifacts of the past reminded them to approach each part of the renovation with utmost respect for the lives and memories shaped within over the years.
They learned also that renovations are not just about upgrading a property but rather putting a space reflective of both the past and present. Embracing the history that surrounded their home, they found themselves living in a place that felt so authentic and meaningful; it had already allowed them to find love and even happiness amid the most difficult and trying moments during renovation.
What they actually learned from the process is that the journey really matters as much as the destination. The idea was that every working day had been devoted to fine-tuning the house in every detail, and so their emotion to it became much deeper, and what started out to be pretty much a simple renovation process turned out to be life-changing. Lessons taken outside the walls of the house into the broader life rendered them very conscious of appreciating beauty in history and legacy.
