A dusty wooden box with secrets inside
Among the strange items they discovered was an old wooden trunk covered in dust with its edges slightly worn. Its latch was just a little bit smaller compared to a coin. When they opened it, inside the trunk, they found keepsakes – those small trinkets and charms, a pressed flower, all holding some feelings attached to them, more or less like treasures from special moments someone treasured enough to save.
She opened the box one more time with her boyfriend and determined what they might represent in terms of memories. The pressed flower could be a keepsake from her wedding or another significant date, while the trinkets looked like tokens of love or reminders of the good times. The box became a gateway to the past full of tokens for life lived in those same walls.
This only deepened the history of the house, making them feel like part of the endless lists of its caretakers. The wooden box and its contents reminded them that this house is not only a property, but a vessel holding memories in it, fragments of lives which once bloomed within its walls. The couple decided to keep and conserve the box and its contents and included it in their decoration as a gesture of dedication to those people who had loved the house before them.
