Nursing Back to Health
This turned out to be an extremely lengthy and careful process of nursing the horse back to health. There were vet visits to determine the condition of the horse; thus, the vet could deduce a recovery plan. It was what the farmer had been dreading: the horse was severally underweight and dehydrated, had minor injuries that needed care. Recovery was going to take weeks, if not months.

The farmer devoted himself to the task. He provided nutritious food, making sure that the diet of the horse included everything that would enable it to regain its strength. He dedicated hours each day to grooming its coat, removing all that dirt and tangles that had aggregated over months of neglect. His touch was delicate, as though he were trying to erase the memories of hardships the horse had endured.
The horse slowly regained splendor a few weeks after that. Its coat started to regain its shine again, and gradually its body started to match the strong glorious animal it was meant to be. For the farmer, every little triumph was all the more sweet as every step forward was bound to prove their mutual strength and attachment.
