The Secret Group
As the letter came along to about 100 years back, a new theory began to take shape. It referred to a secretive group that had been formed a short time after the object’s arrival. It consisted of a group of villagers and outside experts who had an idea that it was better to study the strange artifact without really exposing it to everyone. It was said that this group possessed profound knowledge of the powers and mysterious properties of the artifact. However, their investigations were halted because of the growing fears over the artifact. This group according to the letter believed that the object possessed a good potential; however, the influence it had over the town was something significant and not to be ignored.
The letter stated that most villagers have been having a series of bizarre dreams, inconsistent phenomena, and harsh feeling since they acquired contact with the artifact. Afraid that the artifact itself may be the cause of the events, the group came to the idea that they seal it away, research discontinued, and abandoning it in the shelf for decades. This leads up to new questions: Why was the object left behind for such a long time? What had the group discovered that had made them so afraid?
This hidden history breathed new life into the quest. If the villagers kept reading this letter and pieced together pieces of the past, they began wondering whether something as mysterious as the thing had long been part of their historical records, subtly steering the town for generations. The idea of a secret society of readers studying the artifact seemed to intimate that maybe the scope of its influence was indeed very wide if the entire extent of the influence was unrevealed.
