The Uninvited Guests
As the mystery of the object deepened, more visitors were attracted to Oakfield though some of whose motives weren’t exactly clear. One such group was composed of researchers from an international scientific organization who claimed to have specific knowledge for studying extraterrestrial artifacts. These visitors came well equipped with all sorts of high tech equipment and the eagerness to probe deeper into the mysteries of the object.
The local authorities were so hesitant that they would let outsiders inspect the artifact. However, in the face of increasing demand from the scientific world, there was a compromise. The scientists came with an almost urgent feeling that they needed to dig out what this object had to say. They spent days running tests, scanning this object with their technology, and analyzing the mysterious markings on its surface.
However, as they dug deeper into their work, something unexpected happened. One evening, while checking the object, the team reported strange disturbances. Many of their instruments malfunctioned, and some researchers complained of feeling dizzy or disoriented. It was almost a coincidence at first, but these occurrences kept growing in frequency. A few members of the team started to wonder if the object was not only inexplicable in its physical properties but even somehow interfering with the technological apparata used to study it.
