The Future Likelihood of Unwanted Drone Content
As technology advances for drones, unwanted drone content becomes even more possible in the near future. The drones themselves are becoming stronger with better-quality cameras that can photograph clear images at thousands of feet in the air. And with growing capability, drones will catch an ever more detailed and personal picture, whether intended or not.
These are, in effect, drones of the future to become so integrally a part of our lives that they track individuals, record real-time events, and can recognize people through their abilities to do facial recognition. Proposals such as these may offer much promise for new creative filmmaking or even surveillance techniques but they threaten the very heart of individual privacy severely.
As drone technology is blossoming, so will society have to tackle the very ethical implications this technology seems to carry. Whether it be updating better privacy laws, ensuring that drone operators receive some sort of education on some of these issues, or coming up with innovative ways to safeguard personal space, it becomes obvious that drones are only going to play a more central role in catching moments-good or bad-for years to come.
