Accidental Exposure of Private Life
Besides capturing public accidents or awkward moments, drones sometimes also catch glimpses of what people really do in their personal lives. For example, the intimate moments that drones unwittingly record often involve private conversations, family gatherings, or even individual arguments. It makes it all the more challenging to share these pictures with other people once these individuals are not aware that there is a camera above them.
Such serendipitous exposures disclose the vulnerability of private lives in a digital context. People could think certain activities or talks are private, and before you know it, those same moments are caught on camera through errant means. The tendency is quite destructive when the moments recorded are emotional or private because they reveal more than people want to share with the rest of the world.
Such accidental exposure is likely to rise with the sophistication of drones. For example, a drone might fly over your private property and peek through your windows. It’s therefore natural to expect that people should know very well how to handle themselves, knowing their surroundings. The triviality or innocence of some of these moments may not be a cause for issue, but the intrusion of personal life raises questions about what is acceptable in privacy in a world where technology is rapidly advancing.
