Living the Sustainable Lifestyle
The other most significant advantage living on a houseboat was adopting the lifestyle that would be more sustainable for the future. Both Sarah and Jake are going to great lengths to reduce their impact on the environment, and their new life on the water was an opportune way to do this. From utilizing solar power to collecting rainwater, they found creative ways to decrease their consumption and waste.
They also adopted sustainable living for their daily usage. Instead of taking the car everywhere, they still took cycling for errands around the immediate neighborhood and enjoyed more health benefits in walking miles. The houseboat space restriction made them mindful of resources be it water, electricity, food, and whatever they bought for their use; this would offer both savings and sustainable life.
Because the couple had managed to make their house an eco-friendly and sustainable one, they continued living this life outside of their house as well. So they became extra cautious about their footprints on earth and, through small contributions, contributed to their society. Thus, from doing local business to participating in waterway clean-up events, Sarah and Jake were able to pay back the earth while living peacefully on water.
