Challenges to Living on a Houseboat
Admittedly, Sarah and Jake experienced several enjoyable benefits of living on a houseboat; they still encountered quite a number of challenges. The greatest was the uncertainty that prevailed in the weather. At winter, the water surrounding their boat would be frozen, and they had to take more precautions and prepare everything not to shift from their place of the position of the houseboat. Cold meant other maintenance to ensure pipes didn’t freeze or the heating system worked properly.
In addition, they needed to maintain the houseboat constantly. Most houseboats, like every vessel, require constant maintenance to keep everything working right. From cleaning the hull to checking for leakages, there was always something to be done. However, Sarah and Jake said that this work soon started being part of their daily routine, and they learned to take pride in keeping their floating home. They maintained it hands-on, with a connection developed between them and their houseboat which even made the work worthwhile.
Despite these challenges, Sarah and Jake never regretted their decision to live on the water. The hardships they went through were just part of their adventure, and they learned to embrace them as a part of their new lifestyle. And in the process, they found that part of the strength of their relationship grew from overcoming these obstacles, and more importantly, becoming more resourceful in finding solutions.
