Appraising the Painting
With the authentication of its validity, he could begin to see the value of it in dollar form. An appraiser said that this painting may sell for somewhere around a few hundred thousand dollars at least and sell for much hands higher if sold at top-tier auction. That was exciting news yet intimidating. He never thought he would ever have owned something like this and certainly, he never thought that he would have something like this when he was buying something at a yard sale.
The man was now confronted with mixed emotions as he weighed his chance of getting windfall. On one hand, the short-term gain would present an actual change in life, and he knew it could provide for opportunities that he had only fantasized about. On the other hand, the painting had become meaningful to him. It represented an unplanned journey, a discovery of beauty and value in the most unlikely of places. It was hard to let go of it, since he was attached to the story of this piece.
Still, weighing all his options, he began to realize that there was much more value in the painting than just a dollar amount pinned to it. It brought him closer to the world of art and opened his eyes to some stories and histories that those paintings held within them. The monetary value was high, but painting had enriched his life beyond measure. This made him realize that maybe he was not ready to let go of this piece after all; it would mean a lot to him.
