Time and its Impact on the Survivor
Days passed into weeks, and time stretched to impossible lengths. Now they were no longer gauging the time by hours or days but by their meager supplies and their dwindling endurance. They kept a small journal, writing down the events of each day, marking time as they went along and reminding themselves of their purpose. In those moments, one realizes the real dimension of a survivor’s journey-it’s not only enduring the wrath of nature but also overcoming psychological pressure built up from isolation and fear.

Time started to assume meaning for the climber as routine started to construct what was once a shot in the dark at surviving. Every minute in that crevice was a minute closer to rescue possibility, and though they succumbed in their body, the mental endurance of each individual increased with every passing day. Here it came out clearly that the survival of this harsh environment was as much dependent on the mind as on the body.
