Family Support
Months passed and the journey of the man with respect to grieving had begun to evolve, but most healing had come from the person closest to his heart-being their family. They, too, lost their daughter, sister, and friend, but they were there for him, bringing along love and understanding that helped him get through some of the darkest moments. Despite the pain, family presence gave him a sort of continuity and comfort at a time when everything else seemed uncertain.
The family rallied round him, telling him that he was not alone in his grief. They shared all their stories about his wife together and laughed and cried while narrating the exquisite memory of her life. It is during these moments that the husband realized that although she was gone, her being would be seen alive in the lives of people whose lives were impacted by the mere presence of her being. The love and the stories of family members about his wife made him move on with a closure in himself while re-affirming the importance of love and connection.
He also learned to depend more on his family than anywhere else in his life. They encouraged him to continue living, to do all things that his wife had envisioned, and to give credit to her in his way. With their support, he slowly began to re-start living and moved forward with their memory. He stood to fight each day because he had a family that supported him. He eventually found peace in the mess and rehabilitated his life step by step.
