Role of Resilience
Resilience is one of the common themes Margaret’s letters and diary have portrayed. She had faced several hardships, from financial to emotional strains brought about by separation from her husband during wartime, yet she remained hopeful and determined to provide for her family.
Emma was inspired beyond measure by Margaret’s resolute nature. It made her think more about how she faced the challenges that affected her and how she could do things like Margaret. The words seemed to calm down Emma; indeed, Margaret mentioned that often, the most valuable rewards are derived from perseverance.
It was now understood by Emma that resilience is something inherent that has been passed from generation to generation. She was proud that she was now going to inherit the kind of strength and determination that Margaret portrayed.
